BraunTrack Advisory Niverville & Winnipeg, Manitoba

Confidentiality and scope

Advisory work requires access to information most owners share with very few people. This page sets out what is asked for, who sees it, how long it is kept, and what this practice does not do.

What is requested, and when

Nothing is requested before a scope is agreed. Once an engagement begins you will receive a specific list rather than a general request, with the reason each item is needed. Typically that means [[INFORMATION_LIST — e.g. two to three years of financial statements, current year-to-date figures, an organizational chart or equivalent, and any existing management reporting]].

Documents are provided through a secure upload. Financial and management information is not accepted as email attachments, and we will ask you to resend anything that arrives that way.

Who sees it

David Braun. Where an engagement requires a named specialist collaborator, that person sees only the material relevant to their piece of work, under the same confidentiality terms, and you are told who they are before they begin.

Nothing is shared with a referring accountant, lawyer, lender or anyone else without your written instruction. Where a professional has referred you, we will confirm to them that a conversation took place and nothing further.

Where it is held and for how long

[[STORAGE_STATEMENT — which systems, in which country, and the retention period after which working files are destroyed. State this precisely; a vague assurance is worse than none for this audience.]]

If the engagement does not proceed

Information provided during a scoping conversation or a proposal that does not proceed is destroyed within [[RETENTION_NO_ENGAGEMENT]]. You are welcome to ask for confirmation that this has happened.

Conflicts

Before accepting an engagement we check whether we are working, or have recently worked, with a direct competitor of yours in the same market. Where a conflict exists we disclose it and decline, or seek written consent from both parties. We do not rely on internal separation as an answer to this, because in a practice of this size there is none to rely on.

Scope

BraunTrack Advisory does not provide legal advice, tax advice, audit or assurance services, investment advice, or any other service requiring a professional licence or registration. Where a matter falls into one of those areas we will say so, and refer it to your existing professional advisors — or work alongside them, if you would find that useful.

We do not prepare financial statements, file returns, draft agreements, or produce valuations for transaction purposes.

Review before publication. This page should be read by your own lawyer before it goes live. It makes commitments about information handling, retention and conflicts that create obligations, and the audience it is written for will hold the practice to them precisely.
